| Recently, the People's Court of Shanghai Fengxian District (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Fengxian Court”) heard a case of fraud involving COVID-19 online and sentenced the defendant surnamed Wu, who swindled more than 5,000 yuan out of the victim surnamed Liu by falsely claiming to help him buy cigarettes, to eight months in prison and a fine of 2,000 yuan for fraud and ordered him to refund and compensate for the victim's economic losses. | | 日前，上海市奉贤区人民法院（以下简称“上海奉贤法院”）通过在线庭审方式开庭审理了一起涉疫情诈骗案，被告人吴某某以帮忙购买香烟为名骗取被害人刘某人民币五千余元，法院当庭以诈骗罪判处被告人吴某某有期徒刑八个月，并处罚金人民币二千元，责令其退赔被害人经济损失。 |
