The General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council issued the Opinions on Further Regulating the Disposal of Property Involved in Criminal Proceeding.
The Opinions emphasize that competent authorities should regulate the safekeeping system of property involved in court proceedings (“the relevant property”), improve the procedure relating to return of the relevant property before trial, the working system of overseas recovery of criminal property and hunting of fugitives, and the accountability mechanism. The Opinions require improvement of procedure for prior disposal of the relevant property, establishment of an effective relief system by judicial authorities, and exploration of establishing a cross-departmental information platform regarding local relevant property centralized management
